In the spring, Phoenix Motorcars will come out with an all-electric sport-utility truck (pictured). Phoenix Motorcars will only produce around 500 cars in 2007, but it hopes to expand production to more than 6,000 in 2008. It will primarily sell cars to fleet purchasers. The truck will cost about $45,000.
General Motors hopes to shock the world with its new all-electric concept car, the Chevrolet Volt, which was shown off at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. It has a range of 40 city miles after a six-hour charge from a household electrical outlet. The electric car sports huge 21-inch wheels in front. It also includes a 3-cylinder, turbocharged engine for extended travel.
The Tesla Roadster is an all-electric sports car. It costs $90,000 and doesn't come out until next year, but it is hot. Something to make the male libido do a somersault. The car and its technology were unveiled at a promotional event in Santa Monica, Calif. There are more models but the rest seemed more outer space than reality based. Maybe we could use a Jules Verne in this century to give us insight and that is a F.A.C.T.
